You can skimp out at Christmas. You can not be that imaginative on her Birthday. You don't have to buy her anything on your anniversary (as long as you remember the date). But, don't forget to get her something thoughtful and romantic on Valentine's Day.
The Usual Gifts for Valentines Can Work Quite Well
Actually, Valentine gift ideas at the last minute are fairly easy to come up with, as being unique is not totally necessary. It's always better to be unique and imaginative as that shows your more thoughtful. However, that would take more time and the day before Valentine's, or on the 14th itself, does not give you the luxury of being imaginative. You need to get her something and get it now.
The Strategy for Very Last Minute Gift Ideas for Her on Valentine's Day
Don't panic. Here's what you do at the very last minute in order to save your bacon:
- Taking her out to dinner is a great and thoughtful idea, but without reservations, this is probably too late and the line-ups will be unbearable.
- Stay away from the local big box stores, flower shops and specialty stores. They will be too busy and have limited selection.
- You are not in a position to shop around looking for the best deal. You need something and you need it now. So, be prepared to pay more at the last minute.
- You may have to go to your local drug or grocery store to get your gift. These places will have much less traffic and you can get in and out fairly quickly.
Last Minute Valentine's Gifts
Okay. Let's get to the point. Here's my last minute Valentine's gift ideas, for her, the day before or on Valentine's Day itself:
- Chocolates. At the drugstore they have a decent selection of chocolate. Buy some Ferrero Rocher or Lindt chocolates in a heart shaped box.
- Movie and dinner for two gift card is a great idea. It's quick, easy and shows that you are somewhat thoughtful as it's a future invitation to a date. Romantic yes? Plus you get to enjoy the movie and dinner too. Win-win situation.
- Valentine's Day card. Yes, you have to get her a Valentine's card with red hearts on it that says you love her.
- Flowers. Yes, you have to get her flowers. Preferably roses. Like I said, the typical gifts for Valentine's Day are quite alright. Receiving flowers, such as roses, never goes out of style for her. Now you may not be able to get the flowers at the drug store, so this is where your local grocery store can come in handy. Many grocery chains have flower shops and you can pay quickly in one of several check-out lines. FTD. That's right, have flowers delivered to her work. This may be putting it off too late, but sometimes, in certain areas, next day delivery is possible.
- Wine gift basket. Pop by a liquor store, like the LCBO, and get her a bottle of her favourite wine. On many occasions they will have wine gift baskets and, if not, they usually gift box or wrap it for you for free.
With the right last minute planning you should survive this pressure filled moment. Many of the stores mentioned above can be found in one plaza or commons, reducing travel time in speeding up the process.
Presenting Your Last Minute Valentine's Gifts
Now comes the final moment when you have to present your gifts. We've all seen the romantic dinner when the ring is discovered, but we don't have that time. If you make it home before her, display the chocolates. gift basket, wine and flowers in a group in an area she will see, but not immediately in sight from the doorway. Neatly display the gifts on the kitchen or living room table. Finally, embrace her and kiss her and tell her you love her.
There you have it. The panic is over. You've managed to put the gift buying off until the last minute and pulled it off again. Congratulations! Happy Valentine's Day.
